Short bio

Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 1979, Michaël completed the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in 2005 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. In 1999 he studied at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television de Cuba where he made several short documentaries. Since 2005 Michael works as a filmmaker and an autonomous artist, screening at international markets and exhibitions. In 2016 he lived in Indonesia to work on the research for his upcoming feature film 'Mandai River' that now has a finished script and is currently in finance.

Projects in development

- Feature film project Mandai River selected for l’Atelier at the Cannes Film Festival, and received production financing from the Dutch Film Fund, to be produced by Revolver Films. Scheduled to be filmed in 2024

- No Other Being, a documentary feature about artist and musician Gabriel Rios. The film is being developed with support from the Dutch Film Fund and will be produced by Scenery

- Killing Varuna, a thriller feature that revolves around the complex world of water scarcity
